The Comical Review of Coming 2 America

Arsenio Hall & Eddie Murphy Reprising their roles as Prince Akeem & his best friend, Semmi

I was so excited when I heard that there would be a sequel for one of my favorite movies of all time. I literally can repeat the original word for word.

As a purest who loves the original so much, I decided to put aside my expectations for the sequel & just enjoy it. Yeah, they did wait 33 years to do it but I’m really glad they did. Even if we can’t laugh together in theaters yet, we can still create watch parties & the like.

Oddly enough, there are no criticisms from this end! I really enjoyed it!

I loved how they stuck with most of the original cast, R.I.P. Madge Sinclair, including the crew of hilarious old men from the My-T Sharp Barber Shop. Realistically, they should be dead by now but it wouldn’t be a sequel without them. They even brought back Reverend Brown who’s hair still doesn’t lay quite right in the back & the one hit wonder, Joe the Policeman from the “What’s Going Down” episode of “That’s My Mama”, & Jackson Heights own, Mr. Randy Watson, Yessss!

I also enjoyed the new cast members. Teyana Taylor was fabulous! Wesley Snipes was also a great addition. Hell, even Rick Ross inserted himself in. Hey, I guess he said if you’re going to use his house as the palace of Zamunda, he has to be in the place *shrugs*.

Let me tell you, everyone looked goodt! Lisa McDowell, I mean Shari Headley looked just as beautiful as she did in the original. Even the rose bearers were still fine. James Earl Jones looked amazing also. It’s almost as if he hasn’t aged. Another added gem to this well done sequel was having Salt-N-Pepa & En Vogue!

All in all, you should totally enjoy Coming 2 America on Amazon Prime!

*Full disclosure, please stand in solidarity with the Amazon workers who are unionizing. If you can, don’t stream anything or order anything on Prime until after March 13th. Don’t cross the picket lines friends.

That’s my tidbit from your sweet Teedy! See ya next time!
