I’m actually betting on the Saints straight-up. One-hundred dollars to win $145.
Whether you’re a moneyline guy/gal or a not, here are the 5 D’s on why you should bet on the Saints to cover the 3-point spread on Betway.
1. DOME – Simply put, the Saints have Dome Field Advantage. The Superdome is the hardest place to play. Just ask Tom Brady, who, since joining the Bucs, has lost both of his regular season games in the Superdome.
2. DEFENSE – If the 9-0 shutout victory against Brady’s Bucs doesn’t convince you that the Saints defense is the best in the NFL, I don’t know what will. Oh, wait, yes I do. Look at #3 if you’re worried about the players who are sitting out due to COVID.
3. DENNIS ALLEN – Dennis Allen is one of the smartest defensive coordinators in the NFL, and he uses that knowledge and experience to anticipate the opposing coach’s gameplan. No matter who is starting, no matter who is injured or out due to COVID, Allen knows how to get his defense to buy in and trust his system.
4. DAME, NOTRE – The title of this article is “Book It.” The obvious play on words? Ian Book from Notre Dame is starting for the Saints with Taysom Hill and T. Siemian out. And it’s “Dame Time” in the Superdome tonight, as former Irish, now-LSU head coach Brian Kelly will be in the Dome supporting his former QB. The Saints also have Book’s former teammate, running back Tony Jones Jr., on their roster. Sean Payton and Ian Book have been working tirelessly through the Christmas holiday, and their main goal is to work the offense around their superstar, Alvin Kamara. The Dolphins may be good enough to predict when Kamara will get the ball, but they’re not smart enough to know how he will get the ball. Handoff? Play action pass? Screen? Wheel route? The opportunities are endless for AK41.
5. DOLPHIN STREAK – What comes up…must come down. Every streak will end at some point, and on Monday night, the Dolphins’ 5-game win streak will end. And even if it doesn’t, Sean Payton and Dennis Allen are too good to lose by more than 3. I can see the Saints losing by one, or two, or even three points in yet another OT game. Nevertheless, I’m taking the moneyline bet, you’re taking the spread, and we will both be happy campers. BOOK IT!
