Highlights from WWE Extreme Rules 2021!
Another WWE pay-per-view has came and went which means it’s time to highlight the most memorable spots from the event! With Roman Reigns set to defend his championship against the ‘demon’ Finn Balor, a championship rematch between Bianca Belair and the returning Becky Lynch, and a demented Alexa Bliss set to challenge Charlotte Flair, this event had all the buzz and hype needed for a fun show!
Charlotte Flair vs Alexa Bliss
Over the past month, Bliss has been involved in a rivalry with the Raw women’s champion, Charlotte Flair. All of this would culminate in a championship match at Extreme Rules in Bliss’ hometown of Columbus.
Bliss would enter the ring to a hometown welcome from the Columbus crowd. Charlotte would receive her normal reverent reaction even though it appeared the crowd was firmly behind Bliss. For the most part, this was a basic back and forth encounter. It wasn’t until the end that Bliss mounted a flurry that had the crowd and myself included hooked in to the idea that she may dethrone the ‘Queen’ after all. However, after weathering the storm of Bliss, Flair would use the doll that Bliss holds dear as a distraction before hitting a final Natural Selection on her opponent to retain her championship.
Following the match, Flair would rip up the Lilly doll, provoking Bliss. This would lead Bliss to attack the champion before having a complete meltdown.

Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair (Banks returns)
Last month at Summerslam, Lynch made a shocking return and dethroned Belair in quick fashion. After weeks of talk, these two met for a highly anticipated rematch.
The crowd was very much into this match as they were split down the middle. It was a fun match to watch and also a testament to how hardly Lynch trained as she showed very little signs of ring rust after being away for over a year.
This match would end in a no contest though as Sasha Banks would emerge from the stage to lay waste to everyone in the ring, much to the crowd’s liking. Banks was severely missed and she only adds to the star power over on Friday Nights.

Roman Reigns vs Finn Balor (Extreme Rules)
The main event of the night proved to be well worth the wait with all of the drama, excitement, and theatrics that one would expect from a match of this magnitude. Reigns would make his confident walk to the ring as per usual first with Balor entering to a large pop from the Columbus crowd. This match definitely had a big fight feel to it.
After a back and forth match, Balor would find himself on the other end of a spear through a barricade. After this, the lights would dim red and signal the resurrection of Balor’s alter ego, the ‘demon.’ After a quick flurry, it would appear that we were about to crown a new universal champion with Balor poised to hit the Coup De Grau on Reigns. Before he could jump from the ropes, the ropes would actually collapse, allowing Reigns to hit a final spear and retain his championship.
What an entertaining match this was, kudos to both competitors. Hats off also to Roman Reigns as he continues his journey as the Tribal Chief and WWE’s work horse.
