Saints OTA’s Recap and Inside look

On Tuesday, May 23 Saints head coach Dennis Allen and his team started offseason workouts. So what exactly are OTA’S? OTA is short for “Organized Team Activities,” or the time in which NFL teams begin to practice in an official capacity.

Looking at the roster I noticed that several players were wearing a different number. Alontae Taylor, Rashid Shaheed, Blake Gillikin, Eno Benjamin, Kirk Merritt, and Tanoh Kpassagnon all had different numbers.

Lots of new faces which is expected at OTA’s and some returning ones. Huge turn out for the saints on Tuesday. Head Coach Dennis Allen said “Today, there is 80 of 89 here, so roughly 90 percent of our roster is out here,” in his press confrence after practice. You can watch the whole interview here:

Derek Carr looked good. Learning the New Orleans offense shouldn’t be to difficult. With a few adjustment for certain play names I think he’ll be fine. Adjusting to heat will be another task. Carr spoke about his new found love for the city of New Orleans and it’s people, making it through his first power outage and becoming a part of the New Orleans Family. The most notable play came when Olave caught a deep ball from Carr over Marcus Maye. No footage of this unfortunately. But I think the saints are in good hands. Pun intended.
