Here’s a Honduran Spot you NEED to visit!

Alma is a relatively new restaurant, located in New Orleans, that serves up authentic Honduran eats. Today’s Item is the Pollo Chuco. It’s Fried guineo Verde (unripe bananas), green cabbage, red sauce, and deep-fried chicken topped with Honduran crack sauce and encurtido (pickled Veggies). The flavors of this dish were immaculate. This reminded me of a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich deconstructed. Honestly, I would have eaten this over rice and still been happy, that might be the Palestinian in me, but in all seriousness this meal was satisfying. It reminded me of being home at the dinner table and munching on food made with love. You can tell great effort was made making this recipe. The green cabbage gave you that textural contrast from the sauce base and the softish bananas. Lastly, I do love the pickled veggies! That acidity helped cut through the fried chicken and bring a much-needed zing to this dish! If you ever visit ALMA I would recommend getting this dish along with them:

– PLATANO MADURO ( and yes I realized they had pork in them after I ate them, but I would recommend this to you)
– any of their housemade juices are phenomenal!

What else would you like me to try out?
Thanks for reading and until next time,
