LSU Has Begun The Interview Process For OC and DC
LSU has begun their interview process to find their new offensive coordinator as well as defensive coordinator. According to multiple sources, LSU may have their front runners for each open coordinator position.
According to Brandon Saho of WLWT in Cincinnati, Bearcats DC Marcus Freeman is interviewing for LSU’s defensive coordinator position and it has been said that Freeman is Coach Orgeron’s front runner for the job. Freman is also the front runner for other DC jobs as well. Other names that have been connected to LSU for weeks are Arkansas DC Barry Odom and former Seahawks DC Kris Richard. If LSU misses on Marcus Freeman, sources say look for LSU to go after Kris Richard. Marcus Freeman is scheduled to interview Thursday for the position.
LSU has their lead front runner not only for their open Offensive Coordinator position but also their open Pass Game Coordinator position as well. According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, LSU will be interviewing Panthers QB coach Jake Peetz for the open OC position, and also Panthers assistant DJ Mangas who previously worked with Joe Brady at LSU. It has been said that Coach Orgeron called Joe Brady and asked who can run his offense and Brady recommended Peetz and Mangas. Also, according to Lonn Phillips Sullivan of LSUODYSSEY.com, Saints QB Coach Joe Lombardi has also been interviewed for the OC position as well.
Jacques Doucet of WAFB said on Facebook live Tuesday morning, that the belief is Coach Orgeron wants to get these hires made by at least Monday. With everything that goes into the interview process you would think that is too crazy for that to happen, but Coach Orgeron is said to be very persuasive. If Coach O has his way Marcus Freeman will be DC, Jake Peetz will be OC, and DJ Mangus will be PGC. Now we just have to sit back and wait and see what happens after the interview process. I am hopeful that Coach Orgeron will make the right decisions for these open coordinator positions.
According to multiple reports on Wednesday, it has been said that Jake Peetz and DJ Mangus have accepted the OC and PGC positions and an announcement is expected to be made within the next 24-48 hours.
